Ohio Patrolmen’s Benevolent Association Endorses Dr. Amy Acton in Columbus
COLUMBUS, OH- Yesterday, the Ohio Patrolmen’s Benevolent Association endorsed Dr. Amy Acton at a press conference in Columbus, where Dr. Acton shared her policies to protect Ohio’s public safety officers and make life more affordable. OPBA’s leadership highlighted Dr. Acton’s commitment to protecting Ohio’s unions, supporting collective bargaining, standing alongside law enforcement, and putting working families first.
“I’m proud to announce the OPBA’s endorsement of Dr. Acton for governor of the state of Ohio,” said Daniel Leffler, OPBA Chief Legal Counsel. “Every member of ours, like every Ohioan, has two core concerns that they have: what’s in my paycheck and what am I going to have at the end of my career. It is clear that Dr. Acton stands with OPBA and is committed to protecting the issues that are important to us and our members.”
“When we looked at our endorsement of Dr. Acton, the most important, number one issue is collective bargaining rights. We saw our best opportunity to protect collective bargaining by supporting Dr. Acton, who has pledged to strengthen Ohio public safety officers’ right to collectively bargain and to fend off attacks alongside us,” said George Sakellakis, OPBA Director of Government Relations. “Backing the blue means truly backing us up and doing what we need to keep this career a true profession and allowing our officers to retire someday. Dr. Acton has pledged to back the blue.”
“Growing up, it was often first responders who did not look the other way when they saw me and my brother suffering. Firefighters, public safety officers and first responders are the heroes who run to the fire, not away, when things go bad,” said Dr. Amy Acton. “It is the job of the governor to make sure that all Ohioans feel safe and secure. As governor, I will fight for the people who ensure Ohioans are safe and well by standing alongside Ohio’s unions, protecting collective bargaining, addressing the cost of corruption, and lowering the cost of everyday life in Ohio.”
