Amalgamated Transit Union Endorses Dr. Amy Acton’s Campaign for Governor
COLUMBUS, OH– Today, the Amalgamated Transit Union (ATU), which represents six local chapters across Ohio, endorsed Amy Acton’s campaign for governor, citing her commitment to keeping Ohio’s unions safe from dangerous right-to-work laws, investing in union labor, supporting working families, and lowering costs for all Ohioans.
Dr. Acton has been endorsed by numerous key labor groups in Ohio, including the Ohio Patrolmen’s Benevolent Association, the Upper Ohio Valley Building and Construction Trades Council, the Bricklayers and Allied Craftworkers Local 23, the Ohio Association of Professional Fire Fighters, Ohio Iron Workers Association, Ohio State Council of Machinists, the Greater Cincinnati Building and Construction Trades Council, the Lima Building and Construction Trades Council, United Steelworkers District 1, the Western Reserve Building Trades Council, the Ohio AFL-CIO, the North Central Ohio Building and Construction Trades Council, the Columbus/Central Ohio Building and Construction Trades Council, the Dayton Building and Construction Trades Council, the Ohio Nurses Association, the United Food and Commercial Workers International Union, the Ohio Federation of Teachers, the United Auto Workers, the Service Employees International Union District 1199, the Communications Workers of America, the American Federation of State, County and Municipal Employees, the United Mine Workers of America, and the International Union of Painters and Allied Trades District Council 6.
“The ATU is proud to announce our support of Dr. Amy Acton’s campaign for governor,” said Clarence King, Board President of the ATU Ohio Legislative Conference. “As the granddaughter and wife of a union member, we can trust that Dr. Acton will lead Ohio with union values, and we can trust that she will keep right-to-work laws out of Ohio, while supporting our members with the resources they need to create more union jobs.”
