Dr. Amy Acton Statement on the Death of Pierre Damas Bel in Springfield
SPRINGFIELD, OH – Following the suicide of Pierre Damas Bel, a 20-year-old student at Wright State University, in Springfield, Dr. Amy Acton released the following statement:
“I am devastated by the tragic passing of Pierre Damas Bel. We are all grieving this loss. Let us come together as Ohioans to honor Pierre’s life; he was a beloved member of his community with a bright future. My heart goes out to his loved ones, Springfield and Wright State neighbors during this difficult time.”
“Everyone in Ohio deserves to feel safe and to be treated with dignity, and we can uphold the rule of law without creating chaos and fear in our communities. Ohio, this is a moment where we are all being asked to stand up for our common humanity. We must build a better way forward,” said Dr. Amy Acton.
