FACT CHECK: Vivek Ramaswamy’s Billionaire Super PAC Desperate, Once Again Spreading Lies About Dr. Amy Acton
COLUMBUS, OH – Following the Cook Political Report’s announcement that it has moved the Ohio governor’s race to “Toss-Up,” Vivek Ramaswamy’s out-of-state billionaire funded Super PAC has once again taken to the airwaves to not only spread lies about Dr. Acton, but also shame her for being a survivor of childhood sexual abuse.
The ad continues to spread lies about Dr. Acton’s medical knowledge, even though she has three decades of medical experience, has been a licensed physician since 1994, and her medical knowledge has been rated as “excellent.” In a desperate, disgusting move, Ramaswamy has decided to publicly shame Dr. Acton for having overcome horrific sexual abuse as a child.
“Vivek Ramaswamy is once again spreading lies about Dr. Acton and shaming her for being a survivor of childhood sexual assault, all to distract from the fact that Ohioans can’t stand him. This is consistent with Vivek Ramaswamy’s behavior when it comes to ignoring sexual abuse. He refused to call for the release of the Epstein files for months, took $100,000 from an Epstein associate accused of having sex with underage girls, and touts the endorsement of a state rep accused of sexually abusing a minor. As poll after poll shows the race neck and neck, this is a clear last ditch effort to save his floundering campaign,” said Acton campaign manager Phil Stein.

| “Amy Acton’s medical knowledge was described as ‘insufficient’ to Ohio’s medical board.” | –Dr. Acton is a qualified, licensed physician and public health expert with three decades of medical experience. She has a proven track record of saving lives and keeping Ohioans safe. –This review was from a four month internship program. Three years later, upon completing her medical residency, her medical knowledge was rated as “excellent.” –Governor DeWine has applauded Dr. Acton’s “superb,” “wise” counsel and said she has “always put the health of Ohioans first.” [WOSU, 10TV] |
| “And she admitted to emotional or mental illness, drug addiction, or an alcohol problem.” | –In 1994, Dr. Acton honestly answered a question on her medical licensure application that she sought standard, outpatient therapy because she experienced childhood sexual abuse. –It is shameful that Vivek Ramaswamy and his allies are attempting to shame Amy for being sexually abused as a child. |
| “Later, Acton told the medical board she was clean, but days later, police came to her house, finding that she combined alcohol with prescription drugs.” | –There was absolutely no evidence that Dr. Acton was intoxicated or has ever had any kind of issue with alcohol or substances. –Her husband is on record stating she had only one drink. [NBC 4] –Spreading lies about Dr. Acton’s family is a clear sign of desperation from Ramaswamy’s campaign. |
| “Drinking, drugs, insufficient medical knowledge, we wouldn’t want Amy Acton as our doctor, definitely not as governor.” | –Each of these claims is a blatant lie. –Recent polls show the race is neck and neck — there is no evidence Ohioans don’t want Dr. Acton as governor. –Ohioans know Dr. Acton is the most qualified candidate in this race to address the affordability crisis and build a brighter future for Ohio. |
