What Ohioans Are Saying: “Amy Acton is clearly the better choice to lead Ohio.”
COLUMBUS, OH– With just 39 days until Election Day, Ohioans are making it clear that they believe Dr. Amy Acton is “the better choice to lead Ohio” and that Vivek Ramaswamy is a “con man” who will “do nothing” to help lower costs and cannot “empathize” with the needs and wants of Ohio’s working families.
Cleveland.com: Why this Ohioan is voting for Acton for governor — not the candidate who shares his heritage
- As an Indian American and Ohioan, I believe my community should look at the records and positions of the candidates for governor rather than assuming that shared heritage determines our vote.
- Vivek Ramaswamy has never held elected office at any level. His reported 2024 agreement with the characterization of Medicare and Medicaid as a “mistake” also deserves attention, particularly because many Ohioans — including members of my community — depend on these programs.
- Ramaswamy’s reported suggestion that Ohioans need to make more money is a “let-them-eat-cake” response to the rising costs of housing, food, and healthcare. That his campaign is being funded in part by non-Ohio-based billionaires such as Elon Musk and Jeff Yass does not endear him to egalitarian Indian Americans like me.
- By contrast, Dr. Amy Acton has presented herself as a competent doctor and longtime public servant, emphasizing affordability, public education, childcare, working families and government ethics.
- As an Indian American, I look up to role models such as Abraham Lincoln and Mahatma Gandhi, who stood for unity and respect for all humanity regardless of race and economic class. My vote goes to Dr. Amy Acton.
Columbus Dispatch: Ramaswamy is a wannabe con man
- As a lifelong Ohio resident and 40-year practicing physician in Ohio, I was flabbergasted by seeing the Ohio State Medical Association’s endorsement of Ramaswamy for governor. It was noted his wife is a surgeon “who will correct the injustice that physicians have suffered at the hands of insurance companies.” In other words, I’ll scratch your back if you’ll scratch mine!
- Amy Acton is clearly the better choice to lead Ohio.
- Her leadership during the pandemic was outstanding and prevented many deaths.
- Ramaswamy is a con man… and will do nothing for the average Ohioan if elected.
Columbus Dispatch: Ramaswamy is bad for Ohio’s health
- The recent decision from the Ohio State Medical Association Political Action Committee to endorse Vivek Ramaswamy in the governor’s race was shocking and deeply harmful. To quote a letter signed by over 1,000 local physicians following this decision: the Ohio State Medical Association Political Action Committee does not speak for us.
- As a practicing pediatrician and adult medicine physician, I urge fellow Ohioans to hear and understand the following unambiguous truth: Any cuts to Medicaid directly harm children.
- Children will suffer from preventable illness, and precious lives will be lost as families are forced to make impossible decisions between putting food on the table and seeking basic health care. We are already seeing too many families delay necessary care due to systemic threats to their financial well-being and physical safety.
- Further dismantling any support for children, individuals with disabilities, and those with serious chronic illnesses goes against the values that I hear from my patients from all sides of the political spectrum. It is poor policy, and it is inhumane.
- I urge Ohioans to read the letter published Sept. 15, 2026, supported by a large group of Ohio physicians outlining the critical reasons why a vote for Vivek Ramaswamy will harm the health and well-being of your families and neighbors. And I urge OSMAPAC to reconsider whether its stances truly align with the physicians and human beings it claims to represent.
Springfield News-Sun: Ramaswamy has no appreciation for average Ohioans
- …I’m supporting Amy Acton for Governor. Governors should be the first advocate for workers, seniors, students, and underrepresented people. Amy Acton and David Pepper understand working class Ohioans and have the experience to represent us.
- Vivek Ramaswamy does not appear to have the same appreciation for the average Ohio household. Can he empathize with their daily needs? I’m not convinced. Yet, he will tell them how he can solve their issues.
