As more Ohioans enter their golden years, we need to make sure they are doing so with dignity and support. Ohio’s senior population is expected to top three million in the next few years, and we have the chance to make Ohio a leader in elder care.
Eric and I have had to balance the demands of caring for aging family members while raising children, and we understand how difficult this is for working families. My opponent’s pals in Congress voted overwhelmingly to cut Medicaid benefits for home and community-based services, but I believe that we need to support families and caregivers as they help our seniors age in place, at home. We can’t sit idly by; we must invest in career pathways and training for our long-term care workforce, who staff assisted living and nursing home facilities, to keep up with greater demand as Ohioans age.
