Agriculture is Ohio’s largest industry and a key part of our history, economy, and culture. Farmers today need our support more than ever. That’s why I am committed to protecting Ohio’s farmland, strengthening our rural communities, and ensuring agriculture remains a cornerstone of Ohio for generations to come.
Supporting Ohio Farmers:
Farmers in our state are not getting the relief they need, and young farmers are struggling to even get started in the agriculture business. As governor, I will protect tax incentives, credits, and relief programs to ensure our tax system works for Ohio farmers. I’ll champion and invest in programs like FFA, 4-H and Extension programs to build a pipeline of young people who see a bright future in Ohio agriculture. Every young Ohioan, rural or urban, should have the opportunity to discover a career in agriculture and agribusiness.
Protecting Ohio’s Farmland:
Ohio’s farmland needs to be protected, full stop. As governor, I will strengthen protections for farmers facing eminent domain, prioritize redevelopment of brownfields over farmland, and bring together farmers, conservationists, industry, and local leaders to modernize land-use policy.
Protecting Ohio’s Natural Resources:
As governor, I will work to ensure we are protecting our natural resources through conservation practices and programs that work for our farmers. I will continue to strongly support H2Ohio and push for science-based regulations that keep our animals and plants healthy and provide food, dairy, and meat safety. I’ll support keeping animal care standards in the hands of the Ohio Livestock Care Standards Board, where farmers and agricultural industry members – not politicians – set standards.
