The United Food and Commercial Workers International Union Endorses Dr. Amy Acton’s Campaign for Governor

COLUMBUS, OH – Today, the United Food and Commercial Workers International Union endorsed Amy Acton’s campaign for governor, citing her commitment to fight for working people and lower costs and her strong opposition to right-to-work laws. UFCW is the second-largest union in Ohio with over 60,000 members across grocery, retail, healthcare, food processing, cannabis, and meatpacking industries.

“Dr. Amy Acton has spent her career fighting for the dignity of working people across Ohio. She knows that the workers who stock our shelves, process our food, and serve our communities deserve a governor who will fight for them every single day,” said Mike Nichols, President of UFCW Local 1059 in Columbus. “We are proud to stand with Dr. Acton and know she always will stand with union workers.”

“Our members are tired of coming second to corporations and special interests. Dr. Acton will always put working families first and oppose right-to-work laws in Ohio,” said Carl Green, President of UFCW Local 880 in Cleveland. “We are excited to endorse Dr. Acton, the only candidate in this race who will lower costs, fight for fair wages, and be a pro-union governor for Ohio.”

“I hear from our union members every day that they are struggling to make ends meet. They deserve a governor who will tackle the affordability crisis and build an Ohio where the working class can not only get by, but thrive. Ohio is ready for a change, and we are thrilled to endorse Dr. Amy Acton for governor,” saidKevin Garvey, President of UFCW Local 75 in Cincinnati.

“I am deeply honored to receive the endorsement of the United Food and Commercial Workers International Union. Ohio’s UFCW members are on the front lines, working tirelessly to feed, serve, and strengthen communities across our state,” said Dr. Amy Acton. “I am the only candidate in this race who strongly opposes right-to-work laws in Ohio. As governor, I will never stop fighting to lower costs for working families, push back against the corporations and special interests that have had too much power for too long, and make sure Ohio’s working people always have a seat at the table.”

Dr. Acton has been endorsed by several key labor groups in Ohio, including the Dayton Building and Construction Trades Council, the Ohio Federation of Teachers, the United Auto Workers, the Service Employees International Union District 1199, the Communications Workers of America, the American Federation of State, County and Municipal Employees, the United Mine Workers of America, and the International Union of Painters and Allied Trades District Council 6.
